What is in this section

• Calibrators — the HF-IT-201 instrument transformer calibrator measures the in-phase component over 0.0001 to 200.0 % at 0.0001 resolution and the quadrature component over 0.001 to 700.0 at 0.001 resolution, specified for 5–40 °C at up to 80 % RH, altitudes to 2500 m and a 220 V ±5 V supply at 50 Hz ±0.5 Hz. The HF-IT-203 current transformer calibrator covers transformation ratios from 5A/5A to 25000A/5A and 5A/1A to 6300A/1A, tests from 1 % to 200 % of rated current with a secondary burden of 0–300 VA at power factors of 0.1 to 1.0, and is intended for CT accuracy classes 1.0, 0.5, 0.5S, 0.2 and 0.2S, measuring resistance from 0.00 to 20.0 Ω and admittance from 0.000 to 100.0 mS.
• Ratio and burden testing — the HF-IT-202 variable frequency instrument transformer tester measures CT ratios from 1 to 40000 at ±0.2 % and PT ratios over the same range at ±0.5 %, with phase accuracy of ±3 min, secondary winding resistance from 0 to 300 Ω at 1 mΩ resolution and AC burden from 0 to 300 VA at 0.01 VA resolution, from AC 220 V ±10 % at 50/60 Hz with up to 180 V rms and 12 A rms (36 A peak) of output. The HF-IT-205 wireless CT ratio tester, the HF-IT-204 voltage transformer tester and the HF-IT-210 instrument transformer analyzer cover the same ground without test leads.
• Burden and supply — the HF-IT-206 voltage transformer burden tester, the HF-IT-207 CT burden tester, the HF-IT-208 CT burden box and the HF-IT-209 voltage transformer test power supply.

How to choose a CT/VT test set

Start from the accuracy class you must certify: an error measurement needs a calibrator whose own uncertainty is at least a step better than the class under test, while ratio and burden checks can be done with a variable-frequency tester that also records winding resistance. Confirm the ratio range, whether the burden box is needed, and whether the working site has a stable supply or the instrument must run from its own source.
