What is in this section

• Single and dual channel — the HF-PQ-201 single channel power quality monitor is an indoor installation specified for −10 °C to +50 °C, up to 90 % relative humidity without condensation, 80–110 kPa and altitudes below 2000 m in an environment free of conductive dust and corrosive gas. The HF-PQ-202 dual channel power quality monitor measures frequency over 45–55 Hz (nominal 50 Hz) with input voltage of AC 10–120 V or AC 10–400 V and current inputs of 5 A or 1 A, holding fundamental voltage amplitude to 0.5 % FS, current to 1 % FS and phase difference to 0.5 °.
• Multi-channel and harmonics — the HF-PQ-203 8-channel power quality monitor covers a full switchboard from one installation, and the HF-PQ-206 harmonic monitoring unit is dedicated to harmonic content rather than voltage and current events.

How to choose a power quality monitor

Count the feeders you must watch and decide how the data reaches you — a monitor that stays in the substation with local storage answers a different question from one that reports to a control room. Confirm the current transformer ratios on site before ordering, and whether harmonics, unbalance or transient events are the reason for the installation. Installing one monitor per switchboard section is usually cheaper than one large unit with long runs of wiring.
