• DC parameter testing — the HF-SA-201 metal oxide arrester DC parameter tester measures the 1 mA reference voltage U_1mA and leakage current and displays them continuously, with one-click automatic measurement controlled by a high-speed processor, overvoltage and battery undervoltage protection, automatic pass or fail judgement across arrester types and a fully enclosed waterproof handheld case.
• Leakage current — the HF-SA-202 surge arrester leakage current tester ships with a colour touch screen, a lithium battery, RS232 MODBUS communication and USB data export as standard, with upper-computer control and data upload; an external protective capacitor, an extended measuring range, a current clamp, Bluetooth control and Chinese/English switching are available as options.
• Counter testing — the HF-SA-203 lightning counter tester and the HF-SA-204 portable surge counter tester verify that a recorded count is real and that the counter still responds.

How to choose a surge arrester tester

The parameter you report decides the instrument: U_1mA and leakage current are the DC measurements that show whether a metal oxide element has aged, while counter testing is a separate job that is often skipped. Confirm the voltage class of the arresters you test, whether the work happens in a substation or on a tower, and how results have to be recorded and exported.
