Energy Meter Testers, Wiring Checkers and Secondary Circuit Instruments
Eight instruments for metering work: portable three-phase and single-phase meter testers, wiring checkers for installed meters, secondary circuit voltage drop measurement and the calibrators that keep clamp meters and insulation testers honest.
What is in this section
- Meter testing — the HF-MT-502 portable three-phase meter tester measures voltage over 2–450 V with automatic range switching, current through clamp-on transformers of 0.1–5 A (20 A, 100 A and 500 A available as options), phase angle over 0–359.9 ° and frequency over 45–55 Hz, at calibrator accuracy class 0.05, operating from 85–265 V AC in ambient temperatures of −20 °C to +50 °C. The HF-MT-506 single phase energy meter tester covers domestic and single-phase commercial meters.
- Wiring and secondary circuits — the HF-MT-503 meter wiring tester communicates over an FSK 127 kHz power-line carrier with a current test distance of 5 km or more, works from AC 220 V ±10 % with ±1 % FS voltage and current accuracy, uses 7 mm jaws on the 5 A clamp and 50 mm jaws on the 100 A/500 A clamps, and is specified for −30 °C to +70 °C. The HF-MT-501 secondary circuit voltage drop tester measures CT and PT secondary voltage drop over AC 185–250 V at 50/60 Hz with a 40 VA input and a ratio error resolution of 0.001 %.
- Calibrators and field instruments — the HF-MT-507 clamp meter calibrator, the HF-MT-508 insulation resistance tester calibrator and the HF-MT-505 contactless electrical tester for safe presence checks before work starts.
How to choose a meter tester
Decide whether you verify meters on the bench or in the field. Field work needs a portable tester with clamp-on current transformers and an accuracy class that can certify the meter in front of the customer; bench work needs a stable source. Wiring checks are a separate job and worth a separate instrument — most metering errors that reach a dispute are wiring errors, not meter faults.
Every instrument in this section is sourced from qualified partner factories in China, verified and tested against its datasheet before shipment and delivered with its test documentation. Houfeng is a trading company and supplier, not a manufacturer.
