The Automatic Capacitance & Inductance Tester is specially developed to tackle difficulties encountered when measuring capacitance of individual capacitors within shunt capacitor banks at substation sites. It mainly addresses the following issues:
(1) Measuring single capacitors on site requires disconnecting wiring, which brings heavy workload and risks damaging capacitors.
(2) Low output voltage of common capacitance meters leads to low fault detection rate.
(3) It can measure inductance of reactors.
The instrument features less measurement workload, easy operation, stable performance, high measuring accuracy and superior fault detection capability. In addition, its current measurement unit can also be used to test CVTs, surge arresters and other electrical equipment, realizing multi-purpose functionality.

Working Principle

Sampling circuits collect voltage and current signals of the capacitor branch under test. Outputs of sampling circuits are connected to amplifier circuits. Voltage signal from voltage amplifier and current signal from current amplifier are sent to phase detector to generate phase difference signals. After A/D conversion, voltage and current signals are transmitted to CPU for calculation to obtain capacitance value.
The movable current sampling unit enables direct capacitance measurement without disconnecting wiring.
Automatic range selection during measurement eliminates errors caused by manual operation, delivering outstanding stability, repeatability, accuracy and reliability.
