Product Features – Isolator Contact Pressure Tester

High-voltage disconnectors are the most widely used switchgear in power systems. Unlike other indoor electrical equipment, outdoor disconnectors operate in fully exposed atmospheric environments and are directly affected by rain, dust, temperature changes and corrosive gases. Under such harsh working conditions, contact fingers are extremely prone to poor contact, overheating and mechanical aging.
Insufficient contact pressure causes continuous overheating. The contact springs gradually lose elasticity due to thermal annealing, further reducing clamping force and creating a vicious cycle. If undetected, this condition will eventually burn the contact fingers and lead to serious power equipment failures and safety accidents.
Traditional maintenance methods mainly rely on loop resistance testing to judge contact performance. However, loop resistance only reflects the overall conductivity of the entire circuit, including terminals, conductive tubes and contact parts. It features large tolerance and cannot accurately reflect real contact finger pressure status. Even obviously uneven finger pressure will not cause obvious changes in loop resistance, leading to hidden risks that cannot be detected by conventional testing.
Industry maintenance standards clearly require contact finger pressure detection. Traditionally, technicians use spring scales for measurement, but this method is unsafe, inaccurate and difficult to operate at height. Moreover, many special disconnector structures such as scissor-type switches cannot be measured with spring scales at all, making standard pressure testing impossible in actual field work.
