Under high-frequency voltage excitation, each transformer winding can be regarded as a passive linear two-port network composed of distributed parameters including linear resistance, inductance (mutual inductance) and capacitance. Its internal characteristics are described by the transfer function H(jω). When winding deformation occurs, internal distributed inductance and capacitance parameters change, shifting the zeros and poles of the equivalent network transfer function H(jω) and altering the frequency response characteristics of the network.

Main Technical Features

  • Adopts frequency sweep method to test winding characteristics. Detects distortion, bulging and displacement of windings for 6 kV+ transformers by measuring amplitude-frequency response, without tank removal or disassembly.
  • Fast measurement: single winding test completes within 1–2 minutes.
  • Ultra-high frequency accuracy better than 0.001%.
  • Digital frequency synthesis for superior frequency stability.
  • 5000 V electrical isolation fully protects the test computer.
  • Supports up to 9 curves loaded simultaneously; auto-calculates correlation parameters and provides diagnostic reference conclusions.
  • Powerful analysis software; hardware and software comply with standard DL/T 911-2004.
  • User-friendly intelligent operation — one-click measurement after parameter setup.

Precautions

  1. Verify proper transformer grounding before testing; disconnect all bushing leads completely.
  2. Record nameplate data, original operating condition anomalies and current tap-changer position, then input all details into the test information registration window.
  3. Create dedicated subdirectories for test data files; back up and organize measured data after each test session.

FAQ for Sweep Frequency Response Analyzer (SFRA)

Q1: What is an SFRA tester used for?

A1: The Sweep Frequency Response Analyzer (SFRA) is specially designed to detect transformer internal faults, including winding distortion, bulging, displacement, inclination, inter-turn and inter-phase short circuits by measuring frequency response characteristics.

Q2: Does SFRA test require transformer disassembly or tank lifting?

A2: No. The SFRA test is a non-destructive diagnostic method. It completes full winding detection without opening or disassembling the transformer, greatly improving on-site efficiency.

Q3: What is the test speed of this SFRA analyzer?

A3: It features fast testing speed. A single-phase winding test can be finished within 1 to 2 minutes, suitable for large-scale substation inspection tasks.

Q4: What is the sweep frequency range of the instrument?

A4: The standard sweep range is from 10Hz to 2MHz. It supports linear and segmented logarithmic sweeping with adjustable sampling points and intervals for accurate full-band analysis.

Q5: What safety protection does the SFRA tester have?

A5: It is equipped with 5000V high-voltage isolation protection, which effectively protects the connected computer and ensures safe on-site operation.

Q6: Can the equipment automatically judge winding deformation conditions?

A6: Yes. The system can load up to 9 groups of test curves, automatically calculate comparison parameters, analyze curve deviations, and output intelligent deformation diagnosis results.

Q7: What industry standard does this instrument comply with?

A7: All hardware and software indicators fully comply with the industry standard DL/T 911-2004 for transformer winding deformation detection.

Q8: Is the SFRA tester portable for field work?

A8: Yes. The main unit weighs only 3.6kg with compact size, equipped with a dedicated portable case, perfectly adapted for outdoor and substation field tests.
