It detects the contamination level of operating insulators, namely Equivalent Salt Deposit Density (ESDD) and Non-Soluble Deposit Density (NSDD). By comparing test results with relevant standards, users can evaluate insulation performance and take timely countermeasures to ensure safe and stable grid operation.
Contamination grading and contamination distribution mapping lay the foundation for anti-pollution flashover work. Accurate distribution maps serve as the basis for selecting external insulation creepage distance for transmission and substation equipment.
ESDD and NSDD on insulator surfaces are quantitative indicators to judge contamination severity, which are essential for contamination zoning and pollution mapping.

Instrument Introduction

Our self-developed insulator ESDD & NSDD Tester is designed for power system anti-pollution flashover detection. It is a special measuring instrument to test equivalent salt deposit density and non-soluble deposit density on insulator surfaces; it can also measure solution conductivity and temperature.
HD-YH31 combines ESDD and NSDD testing into one unit. It simultaneously measures NSDD and ESDD, simplifying test procedures. It is ideal for field patrol inspection and laboratory application.

Referenced Standards

FAQ for Insulator Salt Density Tester

Q1: What is the main function of this tester?

A1: It simultaneously measures Equivalent Salt Deposit Density (ESDD) and Non‑Soluble Deposit Density (NSDD) on insulator surfaces. It also tests liquid conductivity and temperature to judge contamination grade and avoid pollution flashover.

Q2: Can it work both on site and in laboratory?

A2: Yes. Integrated portable design suits field patrol inspection. Stable measuring performance also meets laboratory testing requirements.

Q3: What are the measuring ranges of ESDD and NSDD?

A3: ESDD: 0.01~3.0 mg/cm²; NSDD: 0.01~4.5 mg/cm², fully covering common pollution grades of power grid insulators.

Q4: What standards does the instrument comply with?

A4: It complies with GB/T 26218.1, GB/T 4585, Q/GDW 1152.1 and relevant international pollution test specifications.

Q5: Is data storage supported?

A5: Yes. Equipped with 16GB U disk for data export. Matched Windows software can realize data viewing, statistics and report generation.

Q6: What power supply modes are available?

A6: Built-in 7.4V lithium battery for outdoor field work; supporting AC220V charger for charging and continuous power supply.

Q7: How to judge whether the insulator needs cleaning?

A7: Compare tested ESDD value with standard pollution grading threshold. If exceeding the limit, arrange insulator cleaning to prevent flashover accidents.

Q8: What is the operating ambient condition?

A8: Working temperature: -5℃ ~ 45℃; relative humidity ≤85%, applicable for most outdoor substation and transmission line environments.

Q9: Does the package contain sampling accessories?

A9: Standard package includes sampling tools, beaker and filter accessories for complete sampling and testing.

Q10: Is English operation manual available?

A10: Yes. We provide bilingual Chinese & English operation manual together with the instrument.
