Internal resistance is a key indicator of battery status and varies among different battery types. It refers to the resistance encountered by current flowing inside the battery during operation. Even batteries of the same type have different internal resistance due to inconsistent internal chemical properties. Under normal conditions, batteries with lower internal resistance deliver stronger discharge capacity, while higher internal resistance leads to weaker discharge performance.
Internal resistance consists of ohmic resistance and polarization resistance. Elevated internal resistance causes voltage drop during discharge and shortened discharge duration. Battery failure, insufficient capacity or improper charging/discharging will be reflected by changes in internal resistance. Therefore, measuring internal resistance enables evaluation of battery operating status. Note that battery internal resistance is not a fixed value; it includes ohmic resistance and polarization resistance (electrochemical polarization resistance & concentration polarization resistance).
HF-BT-410 Battery Health Tester adopts the AC discharge testing method, combining advantages of AC injection and DC discharge methods. The processor controls an adjustable load via D/A to discharge the battery pack and generate low-frequency signals for shunting, coupling and filtering. It accurately measures terminal voltage and internal resistance to judge battery capacity and performance.
Users can select internal resistance test, voltage test and capacity estimation. It serves as the basis for internal resistance matching during new battery assembly. Internal resistance testing before and after discharge identifies degraded batteries. It supports touchscreen and keypad operation, enabling grouped or single battery measurement. Widely used by battery manufacturers, base station operation & maintenance, data centers, substation inspection, and on-line/off-line maintenance in rail transit systems.
