Model HF-CH-212 High Voltage Bridge integrates cable burn-down function and intelligent bridge detection into one unit. Its maximum output voltage for breakdown reaches 60 kV with a short-circuit current of around 600 mA, which rapidly converts high-resistance cable faults into low-resistance faults. The intelligent bridge features a max current of roughly 600 mA, drastically improving fault locating precision.
It is perfectly suited for pre-locating insulation faults in complex cable systems characterized by high voltage, large cross-section and long route lengths.
It is perfectly suited for pre-locating insulation faults in complex cable systems characterized by high voltage, large cross-section and long route lengths.
Except for partial cable open-circuit faults, the HF-CH-212 high voltage bridge can locate all main insulation faults of power cables.
Key Features & Main Functions
- The device adopts a switching power supply to form a high-voltage constant current source, delivering high voltage output and highly stable current performance.
- The bridge detection module and large LCD display are entirely arranged at high potential, while all control buttons on the front panel stay at ground potential. Operate the bridge via an insulated operating rod.
- Equipped with customized 4-core shielded high-voltage measuring cables with braided copper shielding reliably earthed to guarantee operational safety. The four-terminal resistance measurement method eliminates measuring errors caused by lead wire resistance.
- The high-voltage constant current power supply and bridge unit are integrated inside a portable pull-rod plastic case. The equipment boasts high voltage output, lightweight design and easy operation.
- Unlike the pulse reflection method, the bridge measuring technique has no blind measurement zones. It excels at identifying breakdown points on short cables and faults close to cable terminals.
- With high voltage and large current output, it is ideal for pre-locating insulation faults in complex high-voltage cable systems (high voltage, large cross-section, long lines), such as cables fitted with GIS terminals and cross-bonding connections. Accurate fault location can be completed quickly without dismantling GIS switches or straightly connecting cross-bonding sections at both cable ends.

FAQ
Q1: What is the main function of the Cable Fault Burn Down System?
A: This system converts high-resistance and flashover cable faults into stable low-resistance faults by high-voltage breakdown and carbonization, enabling subsequent accurate fault location for power cables.
Q2: What types of cable faults is this device suitable for?
A: It applies to most insulation faults of high-voltage power cables, including high-resistance faults, flashover faults and leakage faults. It is especially ideal for long-distance, large-section and GIS-terminal cable lines.
Q3: What is the maximum output voltage and current of the burn-down function?
A: The system provides 0–60 kV continuously adjustable high voltage, with a short-circuit current of about 600 mA, ensuring fast and stable fault burning.
Q4: Does the bridge measurement have blind zones?
A: No blind measuring zones. Different from the pulse reflection method, the bridge testing mode performs well on short cables and faults near cable terminals.
Q5: What is the fault location accuracy and testing range?
A: The measuring range is 1m to 50000m. The location accuracy is ±(0.2%·L +1)m, which guarantees high-precision cable fault pre-location.
Q6: Is the equipment safe for operation?
A: Yes. The high-potential test part and low-potential control panel are isolated. It adopts an insulated operating rod and four-core shielded high-voltage cables to ensure complete operator safety.
Q7: Can it work with a generator power supply?
A: Yes. The rated power is 1kVA. It supports 220V AC mains power or generator power supply (generator power ≥1kW).
Q8: Is the device portable for field maintenance?
A: Yes. Integrated pull-rod box design, lightweight and integrated structure, easy to carry and transport for outdoor and on-site cable maintenance.
