Send your requirements, we will quote for you within 12 hours
The Buchholz relay test bench is a newly developed calibration and detection device for gas-operated relays. It simulates the actuation mechanism of Buchholz relays when faults occur inside transformers. Adopting the latest embedded control system and high-precision sensor measurement technology, it can precisely measure the relay operating flow velocity and actuating gas volume, featuring fast testing speed, high accuracy and excellent test repeatability.
Equipped with a hydraulic pressing mechanism, it greatly simplifies Buchholz relay clamping operation and delivers a high degree of automation. Compatible with all domestic and overseas types of Buchholz relays, this test bench can conduct sealing performance tests, operating flow velocity calibration and actuating gas volume detection for Buchholz protection relays. Each test item runs independently without mutual interference. It boasts an exquisite software interface and easy operation; test results can be saved, retrieved and transmitted via network conveniently.

Installation & Wiring Requirements
Installation Environment
Ambient temperature: -10℃ ~ +40℃; Humidity ≤85%; No drastic ambient temperature fluctuations.
The installation site shall be free of strong electromagnetic interference, corrosive substances, flammable/explosive gases and liquids, and must be a solid, vibration-free foundation.
The installation site shall be free of strong electromagnetic interference, corrosive substances, flammable/explosive gases and liquids, and must be a solid, vibration-free foundation.
If environmental conditions exceed the above limits, users shall take corresponding protective measures to guarantee operational safety.
No dedicated installation foundation is required; simply place the test bench on a flat, solid ground surface.
No dedicated installation foundation is required; simply place the test bench on a flat, solid ground surface.
When putting the bench into service, reserve sufficient working space on the front, rear and observation side for equipment operation, disassembly, maintenance and cleaning.
Wiring
The bench adopts three-phase four-wire power supply. Select wire specifications in accordance with electrical construction standards to ensure safety. It is recommended to upgrade wire gauge if wiring distance exceeds 25 meters.
Reliable earthing connection is mandatory before use. The earthing wire shall not be shared with earthing points of other large-current loads, and must be independently grounded with the shortest possible length.
Oil Filling
Before initial commissioning, fill qualified transformer oil into the unit through the oil filler port on the oil return tank. The oil level shall be kept 6~8 cm below the top surface of the oil tank cover as observed via the level gauge.
FAQ for Buchholz Relay Test Bench
Q1: What is the purpose of a Buchholz Relay Test Bench?
A: It calibrates all types of transformer Buchholz relays on-site or in workshops. It simulates transformer internal faults to check gas accumulation alarm, oil surge trip action and sealing performance of the relay.
Q2: Which Buchholz relay sizes can this equipment calibrate?
A: It supports DN25, DN50, DN80 standard Buchholz relays widely installed on oil-immersed power transformers worldwide.
Q3: What test items can be completed with this bench?
A: Three core tests: operating flow velocity measurement, actuating gas volume detection and relay tightness sealing test. All tests run separately without mutual influence.
Q4: What is the measuring accuracy grade of the machine?
A: Flow velocity accuracy Class 1.5; gas volume & sealing test accuracy Class 2.0, fully compliant with power preventive test standards.
Q5: What medium is used for testing?
A: Standard transformer oil is adopted as the test medium, consistent with the actual operating medium inside transformers.
Q6: Is the operation complicated for field maintenance staff?
A: No. It features embedded control system and intuitive software interface. Test data can be saved, recalled and uploaded via network with simple steps.
Q7: Why adopt hydraulic clamping structure?
A: Hydraulic pressing fixes relays effortlessly, ensures stable clamping during long-time sealing tests and greatly improves overall automation.
Q8: What if the relay fails to trigger alarm/trip during testing?
A: Check clamping tightness, oil filling level, power supply stability first; the relay itself may suffer from internal jamming or component aging and needs replacement.
Q9: What working conditions does the test bench require?
A: Ambient temperature: -10℃ ~ +40℃, humidity ≤85%. It must be placed in vibration-free areas without electromagnetic interference, corrosive or flammable substances.
Q10: Does it need professional foundation installation?
A: No special base is required. Just place the machine on flat, solid ground. Reserve enough surrounding space for operation and maintenance.
Q11: What is the power supply specification?
A: AC 380V three-phase four-wire power supply, total rated power 5kW. Longer wiring distance over 25m needs thicker cables.
Q12: Earthing requirements for safe operation?
A: Independent dedicated grounding is compulsory. Do not share the grounding wire with other heavy-load equipment, and keep the grounding cable as short as possible.
Q13: How to add transformer oil correctly?
A: Fill qualified transformer oil before first use. The liquid level shall stay 6~8cm below the tank top observed from the liquid level gauge.
