Overview of Power Frequency Overvoltage Tester
The Power Frequency Overvoltage Test is a conventional insulation verification test for high-voltage power equipment. Under rated industrial frequency, specified overvoltage is applied to equipment insulation for a prescribed duration. It checks whether insulation can resist transient power frequency overvoltages in actual operation, discovers internal insulation defects, and confirms the safety and reliability of transformers, switch cabinets, cables and other power facilities.

Operation Instructions for Power Frequency Overvoltage Tester
Pre-Test Preparation & Wiring
- Firmly connect the equipment protective ground wire to reliable earth ground to guarantee personal and device safety.
- Connect power input cable, high-voltage output cable between the tester and the tested electrical product correctly, double-check all wiring for looseness or wrong connection.
- Confirm the built-in voltage regulator is fully reset to zero position before powering on the machine.
Power On & Parameter Setting
- Switch on the main power supply; the industrial touch screen lights up and enters standby interface.
- Tap the touch panel to set target test voltage, withstand timing duration, overvoltage & overcurrent protection thresholds as required by test standards.
- Choose operation mode: Automatic Mode or Manual Mode.
Automatic Test Operation (Mainly Used)
- After parameter confirmation, tap the One-Click Start button to launch the test.
- The device boosts voltage intelligently: speed slows down automatically at 80% target voltage, and further decreases when reaching 90% target voltage to avoid insulation breakdown caused by abrupt voltage rise.
- Once voltage hits the preset value, automatic timing starts immediately; real-time voltage value is displayed prominently on the screen all the time.
- When the set holding time expires, the tester automatically drops voltage back to zero, cuts off high-voltage output and finishes the test. Test data can be saved and queried later.
Manual Test Operation
- Select Manual Mode on the touch screen. Adjust rising or falling voltage via touch buttons manually.
- The system automatically judges upper and lower voltage limits and activates overvoltage protection to prevent overshoot.
- Users control the whole boosting, holding and step-down process manually according to on-site test demands.
Post-Test Steps
- After voltage returns to zero completely, turn off the main power switch.
- Discharge residual electric charge on the tested device with a discharge rod.
- Disconnect all connecting cables, arrange and store accessories properly.
